Amazon's Prime day crashes just as it begins, leaving customers fuming on social media.
On July 16, 2018 at 3PM ET, customers jumped into their Prime accounts, and onto the Prime Day page. Fuming, many customers faced a cute dog picture, with the title "Uh Ohh." Frantically refreshing, they went to social media to show their anger. Although Amazon issued a bare statement on Twitter (see below.)
Despite this outage, Amazon is still proud to say that over $1 billion was made since yesterday. Some of the deals included over 50% off select Amazon devices. Electronics was the top selling category, Amazon says, although the deals end soon so get to shopping.
Amazon competitors also took advantage of this crash, along with angry consumers on offering their own sort of 'Prime Day.' Target, for example, created a one-day sale with deals over 30%. Target also has the advantage of offering these deals without a membership fee, winning some customers over.
