The NBC Olympics team just announced today that they would provide coverage of the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio - in virtual reality. This stream is exclusive to Samsung VR enabled devices, and is available through the NBC Sports app.
85 hours of broadcasting will be captured and turned into Virtual Reality format. Any user that has a compatible Samsung Galaxy phone will be able to access the stream, by logging in with their TV provider. The footage will contain a variety of sports and highlights on those sports.
Now, fans of the Olympics will be able to view the event as if they are there. Virtual Reality is technology that creates two images in the position of both eyes, then the user's eyes merging them together into one image. This can be done by purchasing a virtually reality headset (see photo at the top of the page.) Coverage of the Olympics starts on Friday, August 5, on NBC.
